    Testicular Screens
Testicular cancer is the most common cancer to be found in younger men (15 – 49years) although it can occur at any age. There are a number of risk factors other than age e.g. family history, undescended testes, lack of exercise, tight fitting clothes, early puberty and race, with white males being 6 times more likely than black males to develop the disease.

The screening is by ultrasound scan and takes about 10 minutes. Ultrasound is a procedure that uses sound waves to see inside the body. A testicular ultrasound can help diagnose medical conditions such as sudden pain in the testicles. This test can differentiate between the common causes of pain, including epididymitis, testicular torsion or orchitis. It can also be used for the detection of small lumps or masses within the testicle, such as varicoceles, hydroceles or cysts.

Testicular cancer and self-examination are reviewed with customers who attend a Nuffield Hospitals Health Screening. For more details click here.
