Obstetric Scanning |

Counselling and ultrasound services are
offered to pregnant women. Scans include;
Dating scan - the pregnancy can be
accurately dated.
Detailed scan - carried
out at 18-20 weeks, allows a look at the baby's
head, brain, face, spine and major internal
organs. Plus can detect any physical markers that
may suggest chromosomal abnormality such as Down's
Syndrome.
Nuchal Translucency/Serum
Screening - both calculate the risk of the baby
being affected by Down's Syndrome.
Amniocentesis and CVS - Both tests are
used to count the baby's chromosomes, to check
they are normal, or if a scan has raised
suspicion.
Unfortunately, Nuffield
Hospitals do not offer maternity inpatient
services. However, the Glasgow Nuffield Hospital
and the North London Nuffield Hospital offer
Obstetric Outpatient Services, i.e; private
consultations. All the hospitals listed below
offer Obstetric Ultrasound, please contact a
